Our job is to facilitate the personal, social and educational development of all our members. We offer a range of inclusive activities and experiences that enable children and young people to gain knowledge and skills, to express themselves and to participate in a wide range of opportunities.
We encourage older members to become volunteers at the Tanyard, and they are empowered to help with the running of drop-in sessions and to plan and organise activities that they decide on.
We can offer work placements to young people aged 16+ who are learning with local training providers or college, and we work closely with the University of Wales Trinity St David to provide placements for undergraduates studying for degrees in Youth Work.
We provide tuition in music, film and photography in the Boatyard studio.
In addition to the above we can also deliver the accredited courses described below.
Working with our partners at the Cwmbran Centre for Young People (CCYP) we can offer a Level 1 Award and Certificate in Employability Skills. It covers topics such as applying for a job, developing your interview skills, working in a team, managing your time, working towards goals and your rights and responsibilities at work. You can learn at your own pace with lots of support from us.
If you're interested in learning more about youth work, perhaps thinking about working in a youth club or studying youth work at college, you can volunteer with us and we can help you to achieve an ABC Level 1 or 2 Award in Youth Work. Our staff will teach and support you while you develop practical skills working with children and young people in our drop-in sessions.
Offered to all young people who engage with us via one of our projects or who volunteer with us.
You can learn a variety of skills and gain certificates that will help with job seeking and in the workplace.
