Funded by the European Social Fund via Welsh Government, Youth Work HYPE addresses the needs of young people aged 16-24 who are not in employment, education or training in Pembrokeshire by building skills, employability and aspiration.
Preference will be given to those age 18+.
A minimum of 12 participants will be given a unique opportunity to undertake a recognised level 1 or 2 youth work qualification supported by tutored lessons and practical sessions in the Tanyard youth centre working with children and young people aged 10 to 18.
110 to 180 guided learning hours will be provided over 6 to 10 months (according to course and learner requirements), and there will be ample opportunity to volunteer in support of the practical aspects.
The level 1 course will run in parallel with the level 2 course will run from Sept 2017 to Aug 2018, although in both cases participants may be able to complete earlier. Applications will be taken from June 2017 onwards.
Each participant will be assigned a Progression Mentor (an experienced youth worker) who will create an Individual Development Plan with them and support them throughout.
The Tanyard Youth Project Ltd will mentor participants, monitor IDPs, deliver and assess courses and support job search etc., and will work with partners such as PAVS, Pembrokeshire College, Careers Wales, Green Links CIC, PRP, Futureworks, the Job Centre and other youth centres to engage young people and help to progress them into work.
